Daniel Farke views Leeds United’s recent internal promotions as a reflection of chairman Paraag Marathe’s leadership style. The reshuffle, which saw Gretar Steinsson transition to a broader role within 49ers Enterprises, aligns with efforts to develop talent that supports Leeds’ immediate promotion goals and long-term success.

Steinsson’s new role involves focusing on industry research, integrating new technologies, and exploring potential academy partnerships. Additionally, he will oversee new football-related projects under 49ers Enterprises. His exit as Leeds United’s technical director coincided with the departure of head of recruitment Jordan Miles.

Veteran analyst and scout Alex Davies has been promoted to head of recruitment, while Adam Underwood, the club’s head of football operations, will take on a more prominent role in player trading. Nick Hammond will continue supporting Leeds United in a consultancy capacity.

Farke refrained from commenting on the restructuring decision but acknowledged that he will now collaborate more closely with Adam Underwood and Alex Davies.

Farke emphasized that decisions on restructuring are made by key figures at the club, while he focuses on the sporting side. Though he refrained from publicly commenting on the changes, he expressed strong support for Adam Underwood and Alex Davies stepping into expanded roles. Highlighting their positive contributions, he noted the development of young players like Archie Gray and Charlie Crew as evidence of their effectiveness. Farke views these promotions as aligning with 49ers Enterprises’ commitment to talent development both on and off the pitch.

Farke praised the 49ers’ approach, highlighting chairman Paraag Marathe’s decision to promote long-serving staff like Adam Underwood and Alex Davies, who are deeply connected to the club. He called it a testament to the ownership’s commitment to developing internal talent, not just players but staff as well. Farke believes this strategy reflects wise decision-making and signals that the club is heading in the right direction. He also sees his role as bringing balance to squad-building efforts by considering input from various departments.

Farke emphasized the importance of balancing priorities within the club. He explained that while the academy, scouting team, and recruitment staff each aim to showcase their work through player development, it’s essential to blend their efforts. A successful squad requires a mix of youthful energy and seasoned leadership. Farke noted that it falls to the manager to oversee decisions holistically, ensuring balance and taking ultimate responsibility for the team’s composition and development.
